Exploding Boxes

Hello again, sorry it has been so long, but at last I have finally taken a picture of my exploding box. At the moment there is nothing inside, I am still thinking and wondering what to put in there. So this is it open, it has 8 pages in side, but will probably only use the inside four where I have put the peel offs.
Here is the top, I quilled folded roses in pale pink and ivory. The lattice work on the top has tiny pearls at each join. The ribbon is paper too, made of the same colours as the roses with a gold peel off border all the way around the lid.
The crocheted doily that my box sits on, was made by my grandmother, who if she was still with us would be 117 years old. My mum reckons that the doily is about 80 years old, and it has sat on this sweet little cupboard for a very long time.

Rosie,
That box is pretty nifty and really pretty! I have a bunch of doilies from my grandma and great grandma, I just love having them on my tables (the doilies, not the grandmas).

Thank you so very much for coming by Inspiration Week on my blog. You are so sweet, thank you for visiting!
Happy Day,
Melissa

This is gorgeous Rosie! I love exploding boxes. It looks really neatly done too.
What a great bit of history on the doily, it looks very intricate. The arty gene obviously runs in the family.

this box is so soft and feminine...what a lovely picture. Love how you used your grandma's doily to set the box off, Rosie!
I am trying to figure out how there are 8 pages...where are the other 4 hiding?

What a sweet box! And such a special doily it sits on! I have several of my great grandmother's doilies, and I often wonder what little treasures she placed on them in her day!
